AIRBUS, the coordinator of the HERWINGT project, is organizing the 3rd Cooperation Workshop for the HERA project and other Clean Aviation co-dependent projects. The workshop will be held in Madrid from July 3 to July 4. This event will focus on fostering synergies among the REG projects to maximize benefits at the program level for the REG Thrust.
This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore and enhance synergies between the Clean Aviation projects and the HERA project, which is led by Leonardo. We are excited about the potential collaborative benefits and innovations that will arise from this alignment.
The HERWINGT project is a game-changer in aviation decarbonization, aiming to design a novel wing for future Hybrid-Electric Regional Aircraft. By developing advanced architectures, structures, and technologies, it seeks to achieve significant fuel burn reduction compared to 2020 state-of-the-art aircraft through:
- Pioneering wing configurations and improved aerodynamic leading to drag reduction and enabling a fuel burn reduction of 15% at the wing component level.
- Wing structures, more integrated systems, and new material technologies resulted in a weight reduction of 20% at the component level.
- The development of technologies enabling the wing for a hybrid-electrical use case using Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)
